Basketball competition gets under way

The Eastern Southland Basketball Association A Grade Men’s competition tipped off its first round games last week.

The six-team league is contested by the teams Gore High, Gore Trout, Crocs, Pirates, Angler’s Tapanui and Edendale.

Crocs played Pirates in the final game of the round, a rematch of the 2023 final.

Crocs won the game 86-71. 

The win was aided by a 42-point performance from Crocs guard Jarrod O’Connor.
