It was glory for the Ardulssa team in the final of the season long curling competition at Ice Sport Southland earlier this month.

The Ardlussa team won the  Minor Premiership  Trophy for winning the 18 week roundrobin  competition  with  14  wins, two draws and two losses. The  second place getters were the Cupids who had 12 wins, a draw  and five losses. Third was  Albany  with 11 wins, a draw and six losses.   The 41’ers  finished fourth with nine wins  two draws  and seven losses.

The  top  four teams then played  semifinals  which resulted in   Ardlussa and  Cupids  then playing  in the final.

This was a very closely fought match being  5 all  after seven ends. The Ardlussa boys  managed to pick up one point in each of the last three ends to  win the Championship by 8-5  and  the Stevens-Phillips  Trophy for the season winners.  Ardlussa have now won both these trophies for the third successive year.

However Cupids  with a brilliant last stone of the match managed  to  secure the trophy for the most scoring stones for the season, 209-208.

It  was a very successful season for the Gore  Curling Club   also holding the  “ Macrae  Trophy “   for the first time.
