Invercargill death

A police car blocks the intersection of Sydney and St Andrew Sts in Invercargill after a person was found dead in the centre of the city yesterday.

Police said they were called to the intersection at 9.25am after a body was found.

Cordons were put in place for much of yesterday blocking off the area while a scene examination was under way.

The cause of the death was being treated as unexplained, police said.

A postmortem would be held tomorrow.
