Newly elected Simon Telfer has been named chairman of the Wanaka-Upper Clutha Community Board.
The unanimous decision was reached at the first Wanaka-Upper Clutha Community Board meeting yesterday .
Queenstown District Lakes Mayor Glyn Lewers invited nominations for the position.
Newly elected board member Linda Joll nominated Mr Telfer and was seconded by Chris Hadfield.

"Straight into the hot seat," Mr Telfer said.
He nominated Chris Hadfield as deputy chairman and Barry Bruce seconded.
The inductions of the chairman and deputy chairman were followed by an overview of law and procedures by the Queenstown Lakes District Council chief executive Mike Theelen.
