Hundreds at Wanaka's first Rainbow Run

Nearly 500 people of all ages participated in the first Wanaka Night 'n Day Rainbow Run on Saturday either walking or running the 5km course around the Upper Clutha Rugby grounds and Pembroke Park.

Based on the colourful celebration of the Indian Holi festival, runners and hikers were showered with a different brightly coloured cornstarch powder as they passed through each of the five stations  on their way to the finish line.

Sports Otago organiser Moxy Smith said this type of event was a great way to get families active together and they were glad to finally bring it to Wanaka.
