Campers' car in the drink

A pair of Wanaka campers had an embarrassing moment late yesterday afternoon when their VX Land Cruiser 4WD ended up in a hole at the bottom of the Clutha River boat ramp, near the Outlet Holiday Park.

The middle-aged couple managed to escape unharmed through the driver's window and were then assisted by police.

The couple declined to provide their names to the Otago Daily Times and police said they had yet to determine how the vehicle came to end up in the river.
