The commissioning panel announced in December last year that their final decision should be expected by late January.
However, in minutes released last week by the commissioning panel, it stated the decision will most likely be released on Monday due to "commitments of the commissioners in January".
The minutes confirmed that the decision will come out no later than February 14.
The fast-food giant had applied to build a 445sqm restaurant in Wānaka, near the entrance to the town.
McDonald’s had originally proposed to have the business open 24 hours but changed this in November last year.
They new proposed operating hours were to be 6am-11pm and the blade sign — the McDonald's logo sign — would be reduced in height to 2.2m.
More than 90% of submitters to the proposal were against the opening of the restaurant.
Of the 366 submissions, 339 were against the proposed fast-food restaurant next to the new Mt Iron roundabout, 21 were in support and six sought changes to the proposal.
Meanwhile the Wānaka Business Chamber have decided to survey their members and find out how local business owners feel about the restaurant.
Chamber general manager Glen Peat said the survey was anonymous and being used purely to better understand their members’ perspectives.
"We wanted to engage more with our members, it is not being used for a submission."
Mr Peat said they had chosen to do the survey after the hearing process, so as not to be seen influencing the outcome.
The survey data will only be made available to members of the business chamber, it will not be released to the public.
"This is a topical issue and there is emotion out there."
Mr Peat said the chamber felt there was a divide among the business community and it was important that the organisation represent these different points of view.
