A toddler was flown to hospital with serious injuries after a fall near Te Anau yesterday.
The boy, who is under 5, was flown to Dunedin Hospital’s emergency department after the fall about 5.15pm yesterday, a St John spokesman said.
He was unable to say how the child fell or what from, but the toddler sustained serious injuries as a result.
An ambulance and a rescue helicopter from Southern Lakes Helicopters were sent to a private residence in Kakapo Rd, Mt Prospect, about 10km out of Te Anau, as a result.
A Southern Lakes Helicopters spokeswoman said one of its rescue helicopters was used in the emergency medical evacuation.
The aircraft left Te Anau at 6.10pm to respond to the incident and arrived at Dunedin Hospital about 7.20pm.
The nature of the boy’s injuries were unclear last night.
