Two 14-year-old girls appeared before Judge Bernadette Farnan in the Invercargill Youth Court yesterday, in relation to an alleged assault of a young girl which was filmed and shared on social media.
The video showed a girl of about 12-14 years old receiving multiple kicks and punches to her head and body near Splash Palace on September 22.
Both teens were charged with assault with intent to injure.
One did not deny the charge and was remanded in a youth facility until her next appearance, while the other was remanded on bail.
They are both to appear in the Youth Court again on November 1.
Police announced the arrests last week and warned at the time that sharing offensive material online was prohibited.
Anyone in possession of the video is encouraged to delete it.
