Two patients with moderate injuries were taken by St John ambulance to the Balclutha medical centre for treatment after a two-car crash in the town.
Volunteer firefighters attended the 10.14am crash yesterday, near the intersection of James and Elizabeth Sts, and helped two occupants from one vehicle, a Fire and Emergency New Zealand spokesman said.
A police spokeswoman said traffic was blocked for some time after the crash.
