The New Zealand Military Vehicle Club organised a two-week convoy of ex-military vehicles around the South Island recently.
The 28-strong convoy made its way from St Arnaud to Invercargill and back, using back roads and visiting various towns along the way, including Tuapeka Mouth.
Husband and wife duo Tom Jones and Vicki Yarker-Jones hosted the convoy for a taste of Southern hospitality, which included lunch and a ride on the Tuapeka Mouth Ferry, also known as the Tuapeka Punt.
The convoy had travelled from Invercargill and was on its way to Alexandra.
The event is held every second year in different parts of the country to give the vehicles some time back on the road.
About 19 convoy participants from the United States travelled from their home towns and cities to come on the trek alongside people from all over New Zealand.
People of all ages were on the convoy.
One organiser, John Subritzsky, said the group got "quite excited" about the trip each time it rolled around.
"People really enjoy getting out and about in the country, and it is well received by the public," Mr Subritzsky said.
"It becomes a pretty big deal to a lot of people."
