Lawrence Area School's Olive Howard (6) watches new entrant Sadie Bradfield (5) glue her lantern for the town's Lantern Festival tonight.

Children and community groups have been busy preparing illuminations for the annual parade, which celebrates the town's long-standing Chinese cultural heritage.

Although taking place in spring-time here, the event marks the Chinese mid-autumn festival, second only in significance to Chinese New Year.

Members of the public may join the dragon-led parade, which leaves the Lawrence Health Centre, Whitehaven St, at 7pm.
