A ''not fully laden'' moving van which overturned on State Highway 1 just north of Balclutha yesterday was probably blown over, police say.
Constable Andy Denny, of Balclutha, said wind probably caused the crash, which occurred about 2.45pm and reduced a section of SH1 3km north of the South Otago town to one lane for about an hour.
The driver, a 26-year-old Christchurch man, was treated at the scene for minor injuries to his leg by Milton St John.
The Balclutha Volunteer Fire Brigade also attended the crash.
The area was ''well known'' for wind gusts, Const Denny said.
The New Zealand Transport Agency issued a wind caution for SH1 from Milton to Balclutha at 3.14pm yesterday.
