A Waimate man had to be rescued by firefighters after he became trapped in a loader this afternoon.
Emergency services were sent to Waimate's William St and Holmes St area about 2.30pm after it was reported a man was trapped under a bulldozer.
Waimate Volunteer Fire Brigade chief Duncan Lyall said his team breathed a sigh of relief when they arrived to find the man well, and just trapped between the steering wheel and seat after he slipped.
The firefighters used a back board to get the man out and a nurse assessed him at the scene.
Sergeant Kevin Reynolds, of Waimate, said people walking past heard the man's cries for help and called the incident in.
''I'm just relieved it wasn't as first reported.''
Mr Lyall described the man as being in an ''alright'' condition.
''He was joking once we got him out.''
