Spokeswoman Sharnae Naysmith said the group was eager to infuse the town with a burst of creativity and vitality.
The group was a "passionate bunch" which was excited to bring a new set of ideas to the Temuka community.
"We see this as an important channel for not only bringing visitors to our great little town, but also providing something new for the Temuka community with opportunities to help local businesses grow."
Mrs Naysmith, who is also the tourism marketing and engagement manager for the Timaru district, said the group’s first action point was to create new and exciting events for the town.
"Looking at the town with my other hat on — as tourism manager — events are our main way to drive visitors to Temuka.
"However, this isn’t just about out-of-towners — the Temuka community are asking for more events and we want to make that happen."
She — along with members of the Temuka Community Board, and with support from the Timaru District Council and business representatives — has formed a committee to get the venture off the ground.
"Events cost a lot of money to make happen, therefore we need to be able to apply for funding.
"Once we are set up, we will open up for others to become members with a membership structure to be established which will help drive and fund initiatives as well.
"We don’t want to stop at just events — we want to provide opportunities for everyone that calls Temuka home."
With a strategic focus on injecting new life into the community, Boost Temuka was already generating buzz about its upcoming projects — the first a bigger and better Rock and Hop on March 15.
"This is a big event for the town.
"People enjoy coming out to see the vehicles as they pass through, so we thought ‘why not make an evening of it?’
"We have the market running with the addition of food stalls, entertainment and more.
"This is just the first event on our calendar with others in the pipeline throughout 2024."
The group planned to start approaching businesses with membership proposals in the coming weeks with a plan to hold its first public annual meeting in the new financial year.
