This year’s theme is "We may not have it all together, but together we have it all".
One of the events is the 13th annual V.O.I.C.E Youth Art Exhibition and Awards, which will open on Tuesday next week.
The second event is Showcase on Sophia St, a free street event putting the spotlight on the region's talented young performers.
The Y’s team leader for community development, Jo Skudder-Beswarick, said the organisation was turning its Sophia St space into an art gallery for the week.
A variety of mediums and disciplines would be on display, including paintings, digital art, 3-D installations and creative writing, she said. All of the artworks were created by young people.
"We invite everyone to attend the exhibit’s opening night and awards ceremony, or just drop in during the week from 9am to 4pm."
There was an opportunity to vote on a people’s choice award, and other awards — from sponsors Te Rito South Canterbury and Pasifika Aoraki Services — would be announced on opening night.
Showcase on Sophia St would take place on May 24 and include food stalls and cultural displays from the Tongan Society South Canterbury, Refugee Settlement Services Timaru and the Timaru District Council.
"We’re collaborating with our neighbour agencies to highlight young people from some of the different cultures who now call Timaru home.
"The south end of Sophia St will be blocked off for this family-friendly event, so ... join us in celebrating our amazing young people."
The 13th annual V.O.I.C.E Youth Art Exhibition and Awards open on May 21 at 6.30pm, and Showcase on Sophia St will take place on Friday, May 24, from 5.30pm to 7.30pm.
