The new seats were provided by Rotary Club of Timaru North and were installed last week.
CPlay volunteer Roselyn Fauth said she was incredibly grateful to the Rotary Club of Timaru North for their generous gift.
"These seats are in a high-traffic area where we’ve noticed many supervisors gather.
"For those who can’t stand for long periods, the seating provides a comfortable spot to stay close to the fun while keeping an eye on the children.
"More seating is on our list of future improvements, so we’re especially pleased to have these installed since opening in 2023."
The playground had also recently been in the running for Trade Me people’s choicest playground.
CPlay had remained a strong frontrunner up until the 11th hour when it was announced last week it had been pipped at the post by Christchurch’s Margaret Mahy playground.
In a Facebook post the CPlay team said they were very grateful for the support they had received from the community over the course of the competition.
"Congratulations to Margaret Mahy Playground who took out the NZ Choicest Crown.
"An incredible playground that inspired CPlay in so many ways, setting the bar for play in the country.
"Thank you to everyone who voted for us.
"At times we were out ahead in votes, but didn’t quite come away with the win at the end.
"Thank you for getting in behind CPlay, it means a lot to be nominated and reach the top three in the country to our wee team of volunteers, council, community and playground contractors — Caroline Bay is the place to play."
