Waimate residents are being asked what they want in their district over the next decade.
The Waimate District Council has started planning for the next 10 years. The first step is asking the community for its views.
A community outcomes review survey, which was sent out to residents yesterday, will be used to develop a vision for how the district should progress.
"They create a picture of what we are aiming for, an idea of how we will achieve it and a plan for measuring our progress," survey organiser Lynne Bragg said yesterday.
All Waimate district residents will receive a survey form, distributed in yesterday's monthly free issue of the Waimate Advertiser. Forms must be returned by April 20.
"This is a great way to have your say," she said.
Results will be published in April-May and also be posted on the council's website.
The survey specifically asks people to prioritise five outcomes - a wealthy community, safe and healthy people, sustainable district and environment, a place of culture and learning, and an active and supportive community.
People also have an opportunity to comment about the outcomes they consider to be important.
