Current Temuka Geraldine Rotary Club president Viki McKenzie said there were over 250,000 other poles worldwide.
Ms McKenzie said they stood as "a beacon of hope and unity in every country".
She said the kiosk situated near the pole had also been freshened up.
The club was "pretty proud" of the transformation, and members hoped to work together with the driver reviver programme to have people use the space to take a break from driving, providing a grassy area for dogs or for drivers to stretch their legs, a tap to replenish water and a short stroll to the toilet.
The peace pole was the second the club had unveiled in the area this month, their first "planting" taking place in the Geraldine Domain — near the playground — on the Geraldine Nature and Sculpture Trail.

"It serves as a reminder of the power of peace and our shared responsibility to foster it in our communities."
She said the club was "immensely proud" of the students who had joined forces and rallied behind the project, 2024 head girls Valentina Stimolo, from Geraldine High School, and Hazel Johnston, from Opihi College in Temuka.
"They were so great together. They united the districts and schools."
Ms McKenzie said the students showed their dedication and enthusiasm through marketing and successful fundraising efforts.
"Their passion for peace is truly inspiring and gives us hope for a brighter future."
She said the project would not have been possible, or sustainable, without support from local businesses, including Phoenix Steel, ABC Contractors and Geraldine Signs, and the Timaru District Council for allowing the peace poles to be erected in the community for locals and visitors to enjoy.
"Lastly, we acknowledge the support of our fellow members at the Temuka Geraldine Rotary Club. Your support has been pivotal in making this peace pole a reality.
"Let us reflect on the message of peace and how we can incorporate it into our daily lives. May our peace pole inspire us all to work towards a more harmonious world, starting right here in our community.
"Thank you to everyone who has been a part of this journey. Together, we can ensure that peace prevails on earth."
