A local playground is battling it out to be named New Zealand’s top playground.

C-Play Playground in Timaru has been named as one of three finalists in the Trade Me Property’s first People’s Choicest awards, which were created to celebrate everyday life in New Zealand.

People’s Choicest awards, had seven categories: Choicest Playground, Suburb, Bush (shrub or tree), Dairy, Public Toilet, Landmark and Local Legend.

A media release from Trade Me said C-Play was an expansive park which "impressed with its sheer scale".

"This brand-new, $3million community-funded playground is believed to be the largest in the southern hemisphere.

"With over 40 pieces of play equipment, it caters to a wide range of ages, abilities, and sizes."

The other two finalists were the Margaret Mahy Playground in Christchurch, and Kowhai Park Playground in Whanganui.

Voting was open now, and would run until February 14.

Votes could be made at www.trademe.co.nz/c/promo/peoples-choicest-voting.
