Woman injured in Queenstown car plunge

A woman has moderate injuries after crashing her car through a fence and down a bank, landing centimetres from the front door of a house at Arthurs Point in Queenstown.

Emergency services were called to a property in Redfern Tce just before midday after the car crashed down the bank, landing on its roof.

The car fell about 6-7 metres down the bank, hit a climbing wall on its way down and landed centimetres from the front door of the house of Thomas and Christine van den Berg.

The van den Bergs said they helped the woman from the car which landed upside on some beanbags that they intended to send to the tip.

"She was in a bit of shock," they said.

A St John spokesman said the woman was transported to Lakes District Hospital with moderate injuries.

A volunteer fire crew also attended the crash.

The car was to be towed and the police enquiry was continuing.
