Members of the Tribesmen Motorcycle Club gather outside the Queenstown District Court yesterday.

It is understood they were waiting for Christchurch man Wilson Koro Ruawhare (32), who had been charged with assault. Several police officers stood guard at the doors of the Stanley St courthouse. The bikers eventually pulled off into traffic, roaring up the hill on their loud, modified bikes, about 11am.

Ruawhare was remanded on bail without plea until December 12. He is accused of punching a 32-year-old man in Brian Smith Park, outside Base Backpackers on Shotover St, about 4.30pm on Sunday. The group of Tribesmen have been present in Queenstown since Friday.
