It was the first time any of the buyers from Germany, United Kingdom, Uruguay and Poland had been to Wanaka and they were impressed by the scenery, friendliness of tourism operators and standard of products.
HF Holidays spokesman Matthew Humphries, of the United Kingdom, said his company specialised in top-end walking and hiking tours and had been sending people to New Zealand for 15 years.
"As a direct result of my visit to Wanaka we will be changing our itineraries. Previously, we just passed straight through. Now, we will spend more time in the region as it fits perfectly with what our clients really want to do," he said in a media statement.
Thomas Braun, of Australia Travelteam in Germany, said he brought on average 450 people a year to New Zealand.
"We are a tailor-made company working with a really high level of clientele and we only sell what we've experienced," he said.
"I was really blown away by what I've seen over the last few days and it was even better than I could ever have expected. I was very impressed by the area and it's a must-do for our clients."
Another 25 buyers from North America, Europe, Asia and Australia are expected to take part in a further three-day familiarisation tour after Trenz is finished.
Lake Wanaka Tourism general manager James Helmore said hosting the buyers was a huge benefit for the Wanaka region.
"With Southern Lakes hosting Trenz, we have seen a massive increase over previous years of the number of buyers wanting to 'famil' in the region," he said.
"The bulk will come post-Trenz and they come from many of our key markets catering for a range of clientele from mass market to top-end luxury. The potential new business generated for the region is significant."
Trenz is the largest international tourism and travel show in New Zealand and staged by the Tourism Industry Association New Zealand. It finished on Wednesday.
