In an embargoed release,co-promoter Dan Allen said Lee would take to the stage with DJ Aero to perform a ''multi-media DJ show'', creating and manipulating music and visuals live.
''Their dirty, nasty electro-house sound veers into the techno, progressive, break-beat and hip-hop territory and although Motley Crue fans may not realise it, Lee has always been a closet dance music fan.
''Every drum solo I've ever played in an arena, I've always incorporated loops, beats, electronic stabs and samples'', Lee said.
In 1999, on the eve of his divorce from former Baywatch star Pamela Anderson, Lee formed the rap-rock metal band Methods of Mayhem with Master Mike, of The Beastie Boys, Fred Durst, of Limp Bizkit, Scott Kirkland, of The Crystal Method, Ken Jordan, Snoop Dogg, Kid Rock, Lil Kim, rapper Tilo and jazz musician George Clinton.
DJ Aero, also known as Chester Deitz, was a hip-hop turntablist and previous member of The Heavyweights, the collective featuring DJs for Snoop Dogg, Everlast, Korn and Dilated Peoples, and performed on the band's tour.
Lee and DJ Aero had been collaborating on their own brand of performance art ever since.
Also included in the line up are: The Crystal Method; DJ Muggs; AK1200; Boombox; Ana Sia and Heatbox, all of the United States, The Freestylers (United Kingdom); Kraak and Smaak (Holland); and New Zealand's Minuit.
The 15-hour concert will ring in 2012, with 10,000 tickets available.
Mr Allen said a limited number of $99 pre-sale tickets would go on sale from August 5 to August 9, open to Queenstown and Otago residents from iSite locations in Queenstown, Wanaka and Cromwell.
The standard ticket price was $149, with general public ticket sales opening from August 15.
''The festival has been set to specifically cater to South Island residents and holiday visitors who would usually have to travel north to celebrate New Year's Eve at a major international concert,'' Mr Allen said.
The name EarthTonz was chosen to reflected the beauty of the venue and the promoters' aspirations to create a first-class music event, while being environmentally responsible.
''Recycling and taking care of Mother Earth has been a top priority for us from day one,'' he said.
''It's an honour to be presenting EarthTonz in Queenstown; an area well known throughout the world for its stunning scenery.
''We have the entire dance music genre covered and to have such a high calibre of international artists for our first year is amazing.
''The stage, sound and light show will be unlike any ever seen in the South Island before and EarthTonz will create a very cool vibe with all the amenities youd expect at a festival of this size.''
