Queenstown hosted the Cure Kids annual Ticket to hope event this year and gave 15 lucky children from all over New Zealand a fun-filled break at the tourism capital.

The weekend included the welcoming party at the Mercure Hotel on Friday night that gave three TVNZ celebrities as well as Cure Kids sponsors time to mingle and meet the children.

Other activities included the Skyline Luge, a bungy jump at AJ Hackett, a helicopter ride from Coronet Peak to The Hills golf course near Arrowtown, and a ride on the Kawarau Jet, all in two days.

Ticket to Hope events manager Josie Spillane was thrilled with the weekend and acknowledged the giant support of Queenstown businesses in helping the Cure Kids operation.

"Their willingness to support this weekend and everything they do for us is humbling," she said at the welcoming evening.

"It is comforting to know for the kids that there is this entire community in New Zealand behind them.

"I don't know who is more excited about this weekend, these guys or myself."

She made a special mention of local sponsors the Mercure Resort, Michael Hill, Skyline, McDonalds and Patagonia Chocolates.
