Queenstown police picked up three alleged drink-drivers at a checkpoint overnight.
Senior Sergeant Paula Enoka said one drink-driver was too many - but police were thankful they were being stopped and held to account.
"That's pretty disappointing for us.
"We know this is a really busy part of the season for us in August so we're always going to get more people in town, so I guess percentage-wise, perhaps it is reflecting the people drink-driving."
Two drivers stopped at a checkpoint along Lake Esplanade last night are due to appear in the Queenstown District Court on Monday.
They were a 22-year-old Queenstown man who allegedly blew 476mcg and a 52-year-old American woman who allegedly blew 681mcg, and was suspended from driving for 28 days.
Another driver, who blew 336mcg, was issued with an instant fine.
