Squall the sculpture has a new home. The piece, designed and built by Queenstown artist Tony O'Keefe, has been bought by The Ivy Box art gallery owner Lynda Hensman.

She said it was an indulgent purchase but she ''instantly fell in love with it''.

To ensure others can enjoy the art work, she has placed the sculpture on the gallery balcony, on Park St, which can be accessed via steps at the side of the building. Ms Hensman welcomes locals to come up, sit down and enjoy Squall and the surrounding stunning scenery

''It is the perfect place for it. Others can enjoy it as much as I do myself.''

The steel structure is described as evoking wild New Zealand and Mr O'Keefe said the location is perfect, on the banks of Lake Wakatipu.
