Wellington artist Max Patte with Zoantharia, one of his pieces being exhibited in the resort's Artbay Gallery until February 16.

"Polychromatic" is the first gallery show for British-born Patte, an internationally-collected artist, which comprises sculptures, paintings and light works.

His works have been collected to date by Sir Ian McKellen, Stephen Fry and Charles Saatchi.

He also created five cast-iron horses, The Frolic and The Fancy, installed at Sir Michael Hill’s golf course, The Hills, near Arrowtown, and Solace in the Wind, a sculpture of a naked man overlooking Wellington Harbour.
