Santana Minerals Ltd announced to the Australian Stock Exchange Mr Spring’s promotion last week, with his new role commencing on July 1.
According to documents sent to the ASX, the chief executive will earn $380,000 plus other benefits.
Mr Spring was appointed as the company’s New Zealand general manager in January 2023.
Santana investor relations and business development manager Cameron Peacock said Mr Spring had successfully led Santana’s New Zealand activities and advanced the Bendigo-Ophir gold project.
Mr Spring would continue to lead the Bendigo-Ophir project as it prepared for development into "a long life, environmentally sustainable mining operation".
Mr Spring holds a bachelor of engineering in mining from the University of Auckland and is a chartered professional member of the Australasian Institute of Mining and Metallurgy as well as holding a first-class mine manager certificate in New Zealand.
He has worked in gold and base metals sectors in New Zealand, Australia, Argentina and Mexico and previously held a senior management position at Bathurst Resources.
Mr Spring said Bendigo-Ophir’s near-term milestones included an updated mineral resource estimate and a scoping study.
The company would likely be lodging mining consent applications in late 2024.
"There is enormous value to be realised over the near, medium and long term for our shareholders," Mr Spring said.
Santana Minerals also has projects in Mexico and Cambodia.
