Principal John Western said on Friday an estimated 80 parents attended the free presentation delivered by former Queensland police officer turned internet safety consultant Brett Lee.
Mr Western said there "definitely was a strong turnout of families from all primary schools. Brett's messages were very well received and I've had parents talking to me before school about it."
Among Mr Lee's messages for parents were that they should always be aware of what their children were doing online and to place the computer with internet access in a public place in the home.
He gave advice on making good choices concerning children and modern technologies, Mr Western said.
Mr Lee also gave tips to all year 7 and 8 pupils on how to keep safe online, what dangers to look out for, how to avoid cyber-bullying and how to avoid inadvertently bullying others.
About 80 teachers from all Wakatipu schools gathered after school hours for Mr Lee's adult-oriented presentation.
The consultant also visited Cromwell College, Mount Aspiring College, in Wanaka and Dunstan High School, in Alexandra, in an initiative funded jointly by the Central Lakes Trust and the Ministry of Education.
