Lunch even longer

They were among 520 people sitting at tables along Buckingham St who enjoyed food from 13 of the township’s eateries.

Organiser Malcolm Blakey said the event sold out weeks ago.  The number   was well up on last year’s 400 diners.

Sunhats were essential equipment, he said.

"This is our sixth year of sweltering hot weather."

The township’s volunteer fire brigade was the event’s fundraising beneficiary this year.
