A Nepalese hiker lost near Queenstown has been found "cold but uninjured".
Constable Pepper Ruston, of Queenstown, said the 25-year-old man Sanjeev was found about 2pm yesterday uninjured and in good spirits, police said.
"We would like to extend a huge thank-you to all volunteers who assisted in the search and ultimately brought the hiker to safety.
"Volunteer teams included search and rescue dogs, Alpine Cliff Rescue, and Sub Alpine Search and Rescue teams, who gave up their time today to assist a very appreciative hiker."
Sanjeev was dropped off at the start of Wye Creek track on State Highway 6 (Kingston Road) about 8.15am on Wednesday.
He was planning to walk the track to the Remarkables skifield and was expected to arrive about 8pm yesterday, police said in a statement.
When he did not arrive as expected, his friends reported him missing.
Sanjeev was assessed and treated by paramedics when found, Const Ruston said. — APL
