Lost Aussies rescued from track near Queenstown

Two Australian men were rescued from a remote track near Queenstown last night after losing their way.

They had phoned for help at 6.30pm while walking near the Glacier Track at Kinloch, near Glenorchy.

Senior Sergeant Paula Enoka, of Queenstown, said: ''They'd lost the track and ended up following the river.''

The Wakatipu LandSAR squad was dispatched and searched on foot.

They found the two men at 9.30pm and helped them walk out.

''They weren't injured but they were wet and it wouldn't have been good for them to spend the night out there.''

The walk-out took about 40 minutes. The men did not require medical attention.

Police had no details about the men's ages as the LandSAR report has not yet been filed.
