Local team wins Godzone race

Team Tiki Tour - (from left) Queenstown brothers George and Tom Lucas, Floortje Grimmett, from Wanaka, and Mike Kelly from Queenstown - celebrate as they finish first in the Godzone event in Queenstown after more than three days of racing.

The team arrived at Frankton Beach at 11.15am today after a 47km paddle up the Kingston arm of Lake Wakatipu.

The team on course for second place, Yealands Family Wines, is due to arrive early this afternoon.

The team took the lead of the 410km race several times on its first day on Saturday, and maintained its lead over Team Yealands Family Wines to the finish.
