Social Connect is the brainchild of Liisa Koskinen and Tim Henry, who’re singles themselves.
Henry: "Liisa and I were both talking about our horror stories from using dating apps and trying to meet singles.
"We’re not gonna match-make, we’re not doing speed-dating, it’s about just hanging out and bringing like-minded people together in a fun, relaxed environment."
December’s launch party’s at Arrowtown’s The Blue Door, from 6pm — tickets, $99, via socialconnectnz.com or on the door, include a welcome drink, bites from nearby Little Aosta and live music from 8pm when doors open to the general public.
It’s planned there’ll be regular non-ticketed gatherings on the first Wednesday of each month, alternating between Arrowtown and Queenstown venues.
"And then our goal is to do premium events," Koskinen says, "such as dinner in the mountains in late February."
