A man had his jaw broken and was knocked unconscious in an alleged assault in Queenstown this morning.
It was the second vicious attack in the tourist resort over two weekends.
Early last Friday, an Australian man had part of his ear bitten off, on Shotover St.
Police are appealing for information on both separate assaults.
A police spokeswoman said the man with the broken jaw was attacked outside Devil Burger on Church Street at 12.30am. Another man was also allegedly assaulted.
"The offender left the scene immediately but he was identified by a bouncer so CIB will be following it up,'' the spokeswoman said.
The man was taken to Lakes District Hospital for treatment. The spokeswoman did not have details of any injury to the second man.
Queenstown police released a video yesterday on its Facebook page identifying two men whom officers want to talk to regarding the ear-biting assault.
It happened last Friday, 3.20am, on Shotover St.
"A 24-year-old man had part of his ear bitten off,'' the Facebook post read.
The post asks the two men to contact police, the public to help identify them, and Facebook users to share the post.
"If anyone knows who they are, please Facebook message us, or call us anonymously.''
