The twisting Crown Range Rd was blocked about 10.30am on Friday by a slip at Chain Bay 5, about 2.5km on the Queenstown side of the summit.
Four workers from Queenstown Lakes District Council roading contractor Downer worked through the weekend to clear the road.
The work was monitored by a Downer supervisor and a geotechnical engineer from consultancy Opus.
It reopened shortly before 2pm yesterday.
"It’s been a busy few days for everyone involved in clearing this particular slip," QLDC spokesman Sam White said.
"Hats off to the guys at Downer and Opus for shifting so much dirt and making the site safe so quickly in challenging conditions that included heavy rain and snow on Sunday."
The operation used one 20-tonne excavator and three trucks to cart the material away.
"We’d also like to thank road users for their patience," Mr White said.
The Crown Range Rd slip was the second major slip in the district in as many weeks.
Contractors worked through last week to clear a landslip on Lakeside Rd in Wanaka, which happened on Thursday, September 7. One lane there reopened on Saturday, with stop-go traffic management in place.
