A concerned member of the public in Queenstown Gardens yesterday afternoon called the police about a possible firearm sighting.
Armed police attended the scene, escorting members of the public out of the gardens.
A strong police presence was seen surrounding Queenstown Gardens — including along the waterfront, on Marine Pde.
However, a police spokesman said that upon further investigation, police confirmed the alleged firearm was, in fact, an umbrella.
Armed police left the scene and the public was allowed to re-enter the gardens about 3.30pm yesterday.
