Legendary Queenstown three-piece Fallopian Dudes is preparing to burst back into life with a double-header blast of classic rock this weekend.

"We haven’t played together for many moons, I can’t even remember the last time," bassist Sam Maxwell says.

The "cheeky little three-piece" also comprises guitarist Connor Williams and drummer Martin Roy Guy, who Maxwell quips are such great musos all he has to do is "plug in my mic and know everything’s going to be great".

The group’s got a hectic Saturday night ahead — they’re starting at Searchlight Brewery from about 6pm, as part of its Winter Beer Fest, and then head over to Yonder to rock the night away in a free gig.

"We’ll start off with a bit of Chili Peppers, Kings of Leon ... then later in the night we will be into some Pearl Jam, Black Sabbath, Led Zepp and The Darkness.

"It starts off as a bit of breeze and ends up being a tornado by the end," Maxwell says.

Maxwell came up with the band’s name while drinking daiquiris with his buddy and drummer Sam Bayliss at Arrowtown’s The Blue Door one night.

"We laughed until we fell off our chairs and the name kinda stuck."

Maxwell’s fresh off a mini tour with brother Tom’s band Killergrams, where they sold out a gig at Wānaka’s Rhyme and Reason and also had stops in Arrowtown and Ophir.

"We just had a brilliant weekend, and I’m really excited to get into it at Searchlight and Yonder this Saturday."
