A self-taught Auckland-based artist who’s garnering international acclaim launches her first Queenstown solo exhibition next Thursday in a pop-up gallery.

Rachel Rush’s exhibition, ‘World of Colour’, will run daily till November 24 at 5 Earl St.

She’s being brought to Queenstown by Limn Gallery, whose director Matt Heath says "the idea is to sort of test the waters a bit and if this goes well the idea is we sign up for something long-term".

Rush, who has exhibited at prestigious shows in Sydney and Melbourne this year and is also exhibiting in Singapore after here, says she is thrilled to finally share her work in Queenstown.

"This exhibition is about embracing the beauty of colour and movement and the stories it can tell," she says.

"It’s an immersion of creativity of abstract and graffiti art, two separate voices forming one body of work."

Heath, who’s formerly lived in Queenstown, explains the artist exhibits as both ‘Rachel Rush’ and ‘RUSH’.

"Rachel Rush is sort of the fine art contemporary abstract work and then the other side of her work is a little bit of a rebellious side, and that’s sort of almost urban graffiti pop art."

Next Thursday’s exhibition opening, from 6 till 9pm, includes a live DJ, drinks and a chance to meet the artist — to RSVP, email contact@limngallery.co.nz
