It seems human residents are not the only ones in search of a roof over their heads in Queenstown.

They have been joined in the queue by an infamous pig caught roaming the streets.

Over the last few months, local community Facebook pages have been littered with paparazzi-style photos of the porker, tracking its movements as it made its way to, presumably, market.

The Queenstown Lakes District Council said "Miss Piggy" was arrested on Christmas Day in Gorge Rd near Hallenstein St, on suspicion of snorting in a public place.

Police decided to hold off pressing charges on the special day and instead sent her on a summer holiday, as the local pound catered more towards canines than porcines.

Last week, the council put a call out to anyone willing to take in the friendly baconater, who has been residing at Remarkable Vets in Arrowtown since Christmas .

The team at Remarkable Vets invited anyone who might be interested in giving the little piggy a home, to visit them, believing she had lived around humans most of her life because of her friendly nature.

They looked to send her to muddier pastures in a rural area, as the district plan did not allow for pigs on urban properties.
