Ferg Foods last year bought Evan Dennison’s Arrowtown Butchery, Fergburger’s long-time meat supplier.
Now it’s reopened as Fergbutcher, and beyond selling meat cuts is also retailing sandwiches, including non-Fergburger burgers, grilled sausages and coffees.
It’s opening seven days, 7am till 6pm — "not quite 4.30am but still good long hours", says Ferg Foods group GM Claire Burke.
"There’s a couple of elements from [Queenstown’s] Fergbaker as well.
"It’s a bit of a one-stop-shop for Arrowtown and the locals out there.
"And the views around there are stunning — it’s a hidden gem out there, Bush Creek Rd."
They’ve also kept the wooden frontage and brass lettering synonymous with their lineup of venues in Queenstown’s Shotover St — Mrs Ferg, Fergbaker, Fergburger and Ferg’s Bar.
"And we have another logo out there; a similar face hopefully a few people will recognise."
Ferg Foods has also taken on about 15 new staff, including butchers, chefs, baristas and retail staff.
Now they have a Fergbutcher as well as a Fergbaker, Burke says she’s fielding a lot of queries as whether a Ferg Candlestick Maker’s next on the cards.
"Maybe we’ll turn out hands to candlestick making, who knows?
"The rhyme just gets longer and longer."
