A wealth of art from 23 contemporary New Zealand artists is presented in the Royal Queenstown Easter Show, in Milford Galleries Queenstown.
The second annual overview of artistic achievement contains significant paintings, glass, photography and sculpture, art consultant Vanessa Eve Cook, of Dunedin, said this week.
"There are new paintings by Mike Petre, compelling works from Darryn George and Neal Palmer. Sue Hawker, recent winner of the prestigious Ranamok Glass Prize, presents pate de verre glass of great complexity," she said.
"Mike Crawford's Matuku Moana Jugs are imbued with the poise and sensations of birds feeding. Hannah Kidd's skill of representational accuracy and innate animal character is to be seen in a suite of antlered fawns.
"Peter Evan's superb photographs of St Bathans present the uniqueness of that most remarkable place."
Miss Cook said the show featured drawings by Simon Edwards and glass works by Claudia Borella, Luke Jacomb, Emily Siddell and Christine Cathie. Major works included Nigel Brown's Resonate, Karl Maughan's Green Road and Ann Robinson's Red Curved Vase.
Paintings by Stanley Palmer, Callum Arnold, Andy Leleisiuao, McCahon artist in residence last year, plus Neil Frazer, Jenna Packer and Reuben Paterson also feature. Wayne Barrar, artist in residence at the University of Northampton and touring a survey exhibition, is represented by two photographs.
The show closes on June 1.
