Two Wanaka men, arrested after an alleged joyride on a tractor yesterday morning, will face several charges in the Queenstown District Court next week.
Senior Sergeant Allan Grindell said police were called to a Peak Ridge View property, off Aubrey Rd, in Wanaka about 2am by a resident who heard his tractor being driven in a paddock.
Police found the two men, aged 18 and 22, with a stolen wheelbarrow and a tanker of petrol, Snr Sgt Grindell said.
The pair told police they had been drinking at a friend's place and had started up the tractor with the intention of driving it to their Rippon flat, a distance of about 3km across town.
The men were granted bail and were scheduled to appear in court next Wednesday, he said.
