Teens do not deny charges

Two of the four Queenstown teenagers arrested for the alleged theft of an estimated $30,000 of property from eight Wakatipu homes did not deny the charges, when all four appeared individually at the Queenstown District Youth Court on Tuesday.

A 15-year-old boy and a 16-year-old girl did not deny the charges and were referred to a family group conference.

Two 16-year-old boys, their alleged accomplices, have not entered a plea yet.

Police in Queenstown brought the charges against the youths of "entering the building without authority and with intent to commit crime in the building", under the Crimes Act.

Judge Dominic Flatley heard the charges in a 20-minute hearing.

Judge Flatley remanded all four teenagers to appear in court again on September 21.

The family group conference would be held and Child, Youth and Family services would make a recommendation to the judge.
