A dozen smiling Remarkables Primary School year 7 and 8 pupils demonstrated their Jump Jam aerobics abilities by treating delighted passengers to a surprise performance in Queenstown Airport on Friday morning.

The excited all-girl team of Charlie Andrews, Holly Ingram, Brydie Macbeth, Olivia McRae, Anika Moetaua, Anna Nakayama, Ella Numaguchi, Jessie O'Connell, Isabelle Painter, Taylah Pedersen, Lucy Phillips and Charlie Wilson was bound for the national Jump Jam finals in Auckland on Saturday, after coming second in the regional round in Christchurch earlier this year.

The Remarkables team finished fourth in the Strictly Jump Jam category of six schools from throughout New Zealand.

They were coached by performing arts teacher Lisa Moore, managed by Kate Moetaua and co-managed by Tracey Pedersen.

Ms Moore said the school would return for next year's competition and intended to compete in a more challenging category.
