Stuart McMillan, of Paisley, said he was all set to take the leap into the unknown on November 2, at 1.30pm, courtesy of AJ Hackett.
Mr McMillan said he was continuing to seek sponsorship for the bungy jump to raise much-needed funds for the Accord Hospice in his home town.
Mr McMillan said he had raised just under £2000 ($5614) so far for the hospice thanks to the Paisley community, businesses, family and friends.
The soon-to-be-flying Scotsman has served as a prison officer for 17 years and at the crowded HMP Barlinnie, in Glasgow, for the past four years.
Staff and inmates in the largest prison in Scotland continued to offer encouragement, he said.
"Governor Bill McKinlay, OBE, jokingly said I should do the jump wearing my favourite Bryan Adams baseball hat. I emailed the Canadian superstar's management and they have promised me a replacement should it end up floating off down the Kawarau River.
"Governor McKinlay has promised to double his donation should I give him pictorial proof I jumped."
A visit to a Scottish pal in Dunedin in 2000 led to a tour of the Wakatipu, and one vista has stayed with him ever since.
"Roy took me to the Kawarau bridge. When I knew I was coming back to New Zealand this year, I immediately thought of making a return visit to Queenstown . . . [then] I decided that my fear of heights had to be conquered . . . In two weeks that is finally going to happen."
