Queenstown police attended several crashes over the weekend. On Saturday night, a collision occurred on Malaghans Rd between Arrowtown and Queenstown when a 19-year-old Invercargill driver crossed the centre line to avoid a cyclist.
An oncoming vehicle was forced off the road and on to gravel.
There were no injuries to the drivers or cyclist and no charges had been laid.
Earlier that day Queenstown police charged a 19-year-old Chinese man with dangerous driving after he went through a fence on Glenorchy-Paradise Rd, hit a cow in a paddock and killed it. The man reported the incident to the station himself later that day and had intended to continue to drive during his holiday before leaving the country. He was arrested and charged with dangerous driving.
The following day on the same road a car driven by a 42-year-old Glenorchy man was in a collision with an oncoming car. The Glenorchy man's car flipped twice.
An Invercargill couple who were in the oncoming car received minor injuries. Inquiries are continuing into the crash and Sergeant Steve Watt said charges were likely.
