Rilean Construction, of Queenstown, has been awarded the contract to build three buildings in one of New Zealand's biggest commercial developments, Kawarau Falls Station.
The three residential buildings will provide town houses, duplex units and apartments for developer Melview Developments.
The buildings are part of the first stage of the development which includes the five-star Westin Hotel, under way now and on track for completion next summer.
Rilean is also a sub-contractor on the hotel.
Rilean project manager Trevor Meikle said the company was building on solid rock on the side of a hill facing Lake Wakatipu, with a road intersecting all three buildings.
"Organisation is absolutely vital in a project of this complexity, so we have weekly meetings with other workers on site to discuss the co-ordination of traffic on the road, right down to the timings of each road user.
"We've worked on some of the trickiest projects in Queenstown over the past few years, so I would say we're ideally suited to carry out the project."
Work started in October and should be completed by the end of November.
About 10 people were involved in the Rilean project, which was expected to increase to more than 50 staff and subcontractors this year.
Rilean Construction, established 22 years ago, recently won the Tourism and Leisure Project Gold Award and the Commercial Project of the Year Award for its work on a $13 million renovation of the Novotel Queenstown Lakeside hotel.
