David Chisholm, of Dunedin, with parents Heck and Dorothy Chisholm, of Queenstown, prepare for a graceful exit from the Queenstown Events Centre last night for the 2011 Queenstown Auto Extravaganza Wakatipu Basin cruise to Peregrine Wines in the Gibbston valley.

The family joined the convoy of classic cars which ranged from stately vintage Jaguars to brash American muscle cars.

Due to his technical superiority, it appears David may have his eye on his parents' UK-manufactured 1952 Alvis TD21 drophead coupe, saying, "I'm lining it up for my inheritance ... I'm not going to share it with my brother, because he's mechanically inept."

Today there will be two motoring exhibitions at the Events Centre .
